My First Mom's Day

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day and it was a wonderful! After a great and spirit-filled service at Church, we came home and began preparations for what I hope will become a tradition for us: a Mother's Day picnic!

The day was absolutely perfect! In the 50's with bright, warm sunshine, a slight breeze, and white, puffy clouds just above the horizon, but blue skies everywhere else. Micah and I had made Mexican Tuna Burgers with Black Bean spread, lettuce, and tomatoes, then homemade potato salad- surprise! We managed to find a recipe that we both LOVED- and it only took 20 minutes! Too easy. We had packed Sister Texter's pineapple upside down cake for dessert, but ended up being too full to actually eat it. Oh! And we had made lemonade too, the perfect picnic beverage!

We laid out our blanket, ate yummy food, and then laid back and did a favorite pastime of mine: cloud watching! We saw a poodle, Jaba the Hut, and a gondola, go figure!

After that we listened to some music until the iPod died, then Micah continued singing to me while we just talked and daydreamed. We had brought the bocce ball set, but didn't feel like moving that much right after eating, so it stayed in it's nice little package.

And of course, it wouldn't be an M&M outing without pictures!

Micah feeding Caleb

I love how tender and gentle he is with his son

"I don't really want a picture taken of me but I'll smile anyway"

Isn't he so sweet?

Peeking to see what Mommy was taking a picture of- he recognizes the sound of the shutter click!

Mommy & Daddy aka. Megan & Micah

We all have some weird in us

The smile I love on him- and a blue, blue sky

He was so sleepy- noisy neighbors, you know

There's Micah's bit of weird

Relaxing in the sunshine

All smiles

Me and the reason why I'm a Mommy

He's happiest when Mommy's holding him

I love his little chubby cheeks!

Kisses for my baby

He's sooo big! He'll be 2 months next week

Heart-breaker in the making

A love his little smiles, they're just as cute as his grins!

And the best part of the day: Caleb and Daddy made Mommy a card!

Then Caleb wrote a very special message to Mommy- see? Scribble, swiggle, scribble, scribble!

These are the toys that Grandma Shaw got for Caleb- he LOVES them!

After the picnic, we headed even farther out of town and went hiking (had to burn off all that potato salad we had just eaten!) for a few hours, and then ended the day with 50 cent cones from McD's (my new favorite low-budget treat!).

Out hiking

Mommy and Daddy (again! we hardly ever get pictures of just the two of us anymore)

And for a last bonus: Sleeping Lady, a famous landmark near Anchorage (can you see her now, Mom?)

Once we got back to the house come dark, we ate leftovers and decided to finish several TV shows were we only had a few episodes left. NCIS Season 6 was completed- can't wait for Season 7! Then we (finally!) finished Heroes Season 4- OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! And the preview of Season 5: Brave New World. Wow. beginning of Season 1. I can't wait to see what it has in store!

All in all- a fantastic day. Thank you, Hon, and thank you, Caleb, for making it so special. Love you both!
