you're 31 weeks pregnant!
Out of breath? Your still-growing uterus is squeezing your lungs, making it impossible for them to fully expand like they used to. Things will improve once baby drops, probably in the next few weeks. Until then, sit up straight with your shoulders back to get a little relief.
baby weighs as much as four oranges!
Baby's going through major brain and nerve development these days. His irises now react to light, and all five senses are in working order. (He won't pick up anything from his nose until after birth, though -- smell is transferred through air, not amniotic fluid.)This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
Talk about out of breath! It's getting harder and harder to move without stopping every 10 feet for a breather. I even get short of breath when talking! (imagine that!) And don't even get me starting on turning over in bed.... It feels like I've run a 5K.
We're getting more of the baby stuff together. We've gotten a crib (mattress to be purchased within the month + sheets, got a ton of blankets already), travel yard w/ bassinet that will go in our room, and are going to look tonight at a dresser that could be used for a changing table now, actual dresser later.
Best part? Crib was $37, travel yard was $25, and dresser is $40. Grand total= $122. Even with a $45 brand new crib mattress (love shopping on base!), it's still LESS than all the new cribs we looked at. I love bargain shopping! Not counting furniture, Micah and I have spent less than $50 on this kid. Counting furniture (9-cube shelving unit, crib, mattress, travel yard, and dresser), we've still spent less than $200. Only major item left to get is a rocking chair. And we still have 2 months to nab a good deal on that.
Ow. I just bit my tongue. That's what I get for chewing gum and mouthing words at the same time. Pregnant women simply cannot multitask. All that ability is storing up for when we become SuperMom!
Alright. Enough silliness. Happy 31st Week Birthday, Baby!
