PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities said two Port St. Lucie women tried to steal nearly $200 worth of merchandise from a Wal-Mart but got caught because they left packets of recently developed pictures in their abandoned shopping carts.
Police said a self-checkout cashier noticed two women scan and pay for $70 worth of items Thursday, but the bagged groceries in their carts appeared worth much more. When the cashier asked to see their receipt, the women took off.
Among all the merchandise that hadn't been paid for, store officials found two packets of recently developed pictures. The cashier identified the women in the photos, and the name and phone number on the envelopes turned out to belong to one of the women.
Both women face retail theft charges.
----- yeah... not the brightest crayons in the box.
TASBURGH, England, April 13 (UPI) -- A British woman said a cat she rescued from an alleyway two years ago may be the world's first vegetarian cat.
Becky Page, 21, of Tasburgh, England, said the cat, Dante, refused the bowls of chicken and fish that she put out after bringing him home but he was enticed to eat by a plate of leftover vegetables, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
Page said the cat has continued to refuse tinned cat food and has subsided on a diet of fruits and vegetables that she grows herself.
"Since he had that first plate of veg, he won't go near anything fatty and prefers the things I grow in the garden," she said.
Multiple cat experts said they had never heard of a feline refusing meat for a vegetarian diet.
"This is extremely rare, I have never before heard of a cat that will not eat meat," said Maggie Roberts, director of veterinary services for the Cats Protection charity. "We advise that cats be fed a complete cat food, which provides all of the necessary nutrients in the right balance."
I just got done spending 6 straight hours in the lab without even so much as a bathroom break!
But I did develop my LAST (horray!!!) roll of film (hopefully ever!) and mounted 8 of my 12 prints.
I have two prints left to develop and two to tweak if I have time, but I have all my boards ready to go so I can finish up everything on Monday.
Right now I'm working on the first page... yes.. FIRST page.. of a 10-12 page work. Ugh. I just have not been able to concentrate all semester. I wanted all these papers done weeks ago. Yet, in my defense I will say that the teacher change in Ancient Lit did set us back, so much so that we did not receive instructions about this paper until last week. So it's completely my fault.
But the hard part is that he's combining two essays into one, trying to condense it down a bit. So instead of two 8-10 page papers, we have one 10-12 page paper that covers both subjects.
Yet it's the subjects that is giving me trouble-- there is none! We have to come up with the texts and examples and tweak it to fit what he wants. Hmph. We have to identify a single image or motif and compare and contrast it against two OTHER works of literature (different genres and cultures) that contain the SAME image/motif.
Part 2 is that while we're comparing and contrasting the three works we also have to compare 2-3 different translations per work.
Yeah. That's a lot of, uh, work.
And I'm supposed to have it done by Thursday. Phooey. And turning it in late isn't even option. It's an automatic "C" if you so much as turn it in after class. That bites. It would mean saying an instant "good-bye" to my 4.0 GPA, which I'm already worried about for this class.
Some good news though.. I did get another good great on my Geography Notebook (A) and my latest photography assignment (A)... just one more week.. keep it up, Megan.. you can do it.
Man. I am so tired. My eyes hurt so bad. And my feet hurt from standing on them so long.
Well, back to the grindstone.
